first things first- great to see the site up and running again, been going through withdrawals without it.

Long story short- 1979 Traveler, stock, been sitting for 20+ years in my garage, finally have time to get it back together. Have the new engine (from IH dealer) on stand, will be going through it since it's been "sitting". Block is dry, has never been run, no oil through it, and I will be pulling it apart to check for surface rust and stuff. Got some ?s:
1- Heads- will go through heads, I am guessing the seals are dried out, but will change them out anyway. should I stick with stock seals, change over to umbrellas type? suggestions? bought an organizer tray - fun! will be posting pictures as I go.
2 - Block - I am guessing the front and rear mains are dried out, will change out. The crank does turn though- good sign.

Posting pix of my project. Slow and easy, but will have some question's along the way.

ok, couple of questions:

now that the heads are off, cleaned and taken apart, has anyone "polished" the intake/exhaust ports of the heads/intake manifold? and/or is this worth the effort/$$$ given the flow restriction of the exhaust flow on these IH engines?

also, back of engine block: there is a Allen wrench screw, maybe I/2 inch, back left side of block. what is this for? Looks like a oil gallery port?

also, anyone know where I can find the internal smog tubes to replace the rotted ones?

thanks all.
