New 2 me Scout II - First time starting it up after sitting..

Hello, I am pulling home my first Scout project this comming weekend, PO told me the engine is good, was a driver then parked for a small upgrade and the time marches on for varios reasons,,,so it has been sitting in a garage for 6 years, no motor rotation, no storage prep etc, I will be bringing it back to life shortly after I get it home.
This is not my first project, I am a car guy in many areas but totally new to Scouts and open to all ideas.
My first question is about getting the oil primed and getting oil pressure before I attempt to start it. So I am looking for info on that, can it be done similar to how its done on a small block Chevy? I.E. Remove the Distributor and spin the oil pump shaft that is driven from underneath the distrubutor?
It is a Scout II, a 1973, has a 345 CI with an Auto
I plan on other prep too, before starting, thought I would start with a post like this and get some help from an informed group that I hope to be engaging with on trails soon.
I could google this but where's the fun in that?
