Hi,
I an trying to install front tow hooks, they aren't the correct spacing so a new hole has to be drilled. But, with the stock sway bar they wont fit. I have seen a scout or two where the shackles were swapped so the bar was set lower. Is this an ok route? Does anyone think that placing the sway bar lower would affect how it works? I actually have full width axles so do would the sway bar even be needed? Don't mind the mess, filled her with radiator fluid and the lower hose sprung a leak, so had to drain it, lol

Re: Tow hooks
If I remember correct, I used one hole of the shackle mount and drilled a new one on the frame

Re: Tow hooks
Thank you, the more i look at it i think i can use that forward hole for the bumper and drill a new one int the frame. I think the hook is low profile and high enough that the sway bar will not interfere.

Re: Tow hooks
When I ran front hooks, I made them, bent 1/2" or 5/8" bar stock into a J hook, welded to a plate that was drilled to the front bumper bolt and a hole that already exists under the Scout for mounting a winch. It's been a long time ago so, I can't really remember but they may have been right and left. I might even have them laying around someplace. I come across strange things around here all the time. Unless of course, I'm actually looking for it. So, if I find the hooks, it'll be by accident.
Re: Tow hooks
Remove sway bar.
or mount tow hooks on top of bumper
or mount tow hooks on top of bumper
