IHWR What went right. What went wrong.

MAYBE I'M JUMPINT THE GUN HERE? Every year is a learning experience.

Your thoughts. If you saw a problem. Had trouble or saw something that can be improved on post it up. AND POST UP A WAY YOU THINK IT CAN BE RESOLVED.
Maybe you may want to VOLUNTER to help.

As most of you know there was only two of us at the registration Myself and Ruthie. Normally there are for to six of us. As he days went on Ruthie and I were getting loopy. Making mistakes. Think we did the best we could under the circumstances. You may not. So be it. VOULUNTEER to help.

VOLUNTEERS FOR NEXT YEAR ANYONE. It's always the same people.

This year we had unanticipated problems at and with registration. I know I was there most of the time. We had pre registrations and nothing else.
We myself and Ruthie were told we could not get it. We had to wait for I think it was Fritz to get us a copies to do on site registration. I think we finally got that going around 1600. YES I know several of you never got registered yet still participated in runs. I know some of you tried to get registered several times.
THANK YOU FOR TRYING.
THEN on Monday I find out all someone had to do was ask the KOA person if we could use their computer to get the forms we needed. PROBLEM SOLVED FOR NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS.
My thought for registration is we may need two teams with access to all the stuff we need to set up registration. Or certain people that have access to all the stuff we need for registration. THOUGHTS?

Our run board was not up. Never got there. Clip boards only. SUGESTIONS?

Tech inspection. Normally it was done as you rolled in. This year it was to be done prior to the begging of each run. When done as you come in it created a bottle neck and those doing the inspections were up till midnight or latter . Then some of them would have to lead a run. OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS.

There were complaints about the way we grade vehicles. There are always complaints. We are going to look at the grading form/ method used at the Nationals. Which we did use at one time and changed do to complaints as it did not fit the type of rigs that showed up at our event. We will look at the way others grade rigs at their shows.
PROBLEM UNDER REVIEW.
FOOD. Saturday night Some liked it some did not. THOUGHTS?

ON THE GOOD SIDE WE ALL READY HAVE THE DATES FOR NEXT YEARS IHWR.
If I think of more I'll add to this.

How many were registered this year? What are the dates for next year?

I know the dash plaques didn't show up on time to go into the registration bags, I was able to get two for Fresno area people last minute. Shannon had already left, and Fritz and Brad gave up theirs. Thanks. I think people just rolled with the punches and had a good time. I did hear comments that it was disorganized, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

As to KOA doing forms: When I did get the forms going, it did cost me. KOA was not free. I had planned on bringing a printer and next year, I feel that would be very beneficial. I was able to load a file on the a thumb drive, but had to email it to KOA anyway.

As we have our date set for next year IHWR 2018 April 19-22nd, that should prevent KOA from reserving our key spots, like registration site. That had an impact. I plan on putting together a working copy list to help all aspects of the event. The date being set, starts us going forward as IHWR 2017 closed. We need to set dates for many aspects of IHWR to avoid last minute log jams, such as chairman(s), charity, donation letter, sub-chairs, run leaders, etc... With knowing months ahead, we can make next year even better.

Bottom line, we did better than years past with all the hurdles we had to overcome. Arnold and Vic did and outstanding job with being co-chairs for the event. We had more preregistered, a outstanding raffle amount that we will get to donate, and a great group of IH people to share in our event.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE HARD WORK

My thoughts, it was a tough year and we got through it.

The food was not great at all and my biggest complaint.

Next year I am planning a 10 day desert run and hope to be in Calico by that Weds so I may not be able to haul my music stuff. Either way I think the club should invest in something smaller since my system is too"loud" for some people. But in all honesty I had a KOA worker come and request a song after the raffle. She even said she wished more events had music. This was pretty close to midnight if I recall.

Anyway I can look at craigslist or yardsales etc.. and not much is needed. At my company Christmas party I only use two guitar amps I bought for like $20 a piece at yard sales. Luckily I found a "matched" pair. But I have also seen some of the PA speakers go for cheap. A small sound board should be fine along with a RCA adapter to connect an iPad etc... The playlist can be discussed at meetings so no one can complain.

I also think that the club should send EVERY vendor a thank you letter or certificate, etc... I know most vendors do appreciate that. I can print some really nice looking ones at work that almost come out like lithographs because the printer uses wax for ink. Just need the file to be able to do it. Maybe our t-shirt logo and a thank you etc...

Thats about all I have...

I had my issue when trying to buy 3 shirts with my daughter. I honestly was pretty upset when I was walked away from 3 separate times so that others that just walked up could be helped. Then the last time having the shirts and my money handed back to me and told "hold on" then proceeded to take inventory. After standing there 20 minutes I finally walked away. After I calmed down I honesty started thinking that something was medically wrong , like heat exhaustion. But Shannon was great and took care of it as soon as she heard what happened. I think the extra help at the tables will solve that one easy. I cant say what I will be doing in a year but as time gets closer I should be able to say for sure if I can volunteer. I would be happy to help if I can at the registration table or wherever I'm needed.
